Seems the Commissioners are getting the point that fans are not happy with the current system. The system they dreamed up to “appease” those of us who wanted a true National Champion. The system they cooked up to make more money for themselves — and fatcat backers of bowl games — while pretending it was the only thing they could do.
Yea, I am sick of them as well.
At a meeting of the Football Writers of America one of the roadblocks said:
“A lot of people look at it and say … maybe it would be better if more than two teams had the opportunity to play for the national championship,” Swofford said.
Wow! Really? “A lot of people”? You mean like all the fans who are sick of crappy bowl games, and fake National Champions? You mean fans, students, alumni, coaches, and staff who are tired of being told they are not good enough to even play for the title — like every other sport does –, you mean those people? The people you are supposed to represent?
“There’s a comfort level with what we’re doing today,” Swofford added. “In our conference, there’s much more open-mindedness about the plus-one than there was two years ago. There’s an interest in it … and a willingness to discuss it in full.”
I would say the heat is on. They sure sound like they are tired of the complaints. Could be time to ramp it up.
“It’s a little bit like turning a big battleship,” Swofford said.
Oh yea, we definitely need to turn up the heat. This guy is still making excuses.
