Linford Christie who was banned by the British Olympics Association was invited by radical London Mayor Ken Livingstone to carry the Olympic Torch. This set off a firestorm of protest and outrage. The Mayor is no stranger to either.

China is responding to claims that their food is not safe to be eaten by Olympians. Why? US is taking it’s own food.
From farm to table, authorities in Beijing say they are able to track the progress of farm animals and crops aimed for human consumption.
Oh well, there you have it. A giant inefficient bureaucracy is able to track the food. Well big whoop. I would like to see the tracking report of the 14 inch chicken breast.
Anyone remember the lead in toys from China? Does not inspire much confidence.
Can China Cope? They couldn’t handle a snow storm. It is already getting ugly over the Olympics.

Board Unanimously votes to shut down NYC OTB. The NYC OTB has a handle of close to a Billion dollars. It routinely nets $125 million but runs a deficit of approximately $12 Million dollars due to greedy Bureaucrats in the State house.
NJ however is going in the opposite direction by opening betting shops (NYT - reg req’d).

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone plays down the “Hamilton abuse”
And he said an anti-racism campaign launched by governing body the FIA was “not necessary”.

The whole year is named after them on the Chinese Calendar. Too bad they don’t get any respect.
Rats target of cleanup in Beijing. Guess it’s the year of the rat in more ways than one.
BEIJING (Reuters) - China may have just ushered in the Year of the Rat, but the pesky rodents aren’t welcome in its capital. Rats are the latest target of Beijing’s efforts to present a sparkling city for the Olympics in August, with the government announcing a campaign to rid all venues of rodents.
Anyone else see the hypocrisy here?
