F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone plays down the “Hamilton abuse”
And he said an anti-racism campaign launched by governing body the FIA was “not necessary”.
“All it does is give attention to people who want attention,” he said.
Thank you. Exactly what I said here: F1 to launch anti-racism campaign.
You can listen to Ecclestone’s Interview here.
Ecclestone is now being attacked by the fascists who started the “anti-racism” campaign.
Does anyone think anymore
This of course is just total B.S.
He did add, however, that the FIA would have to consider sanctions against the circuit if there was another similar incident.
That is idiotic. It is not the circuit’s job to police the behavior of people not associated with the circuit by attacking an entire country. Moronic.
Everyone has an opinion, not a good one mind you
Another pompous twit out and getting his 15 minutes of fame spouting the company line; Rio Ferdinand called for action against “racist” abuse.
There should be no room for that kind of stupidity and ignorance in sport and society
~~Rio Ferdinand
Who is Rio Ferdinand? He plays soccer for England. Seems he fancies himself an intellectual as well. Hope he is good at soccer.
A Soccer Match Broke Out During A Racist Gathering
This is how silly the BBC and the English press are on this issue. They actually checked to see if the “racist chants” were covered by the Spanish Press after England defeated them 1 - 0.
Sports daily AS
There is little coverage of the racist chanting on Wednesday night’s game. But AS does cover the English reaction to the pre-match comments from Spain coach Luis Aragones, who highlighted Britain’s colonial past when probed about his own remarks regarding Thierry Henry in October.
Journalist Guillem Balague writes: “In our country, where multi-culturalism is a new thing, we are in nappies dealing with these things, and have a naivety which makes the English nervous.”
*lol* now that is funny comment. First of all they actually covered the match. The BBC, well they have bigger fish to fry.
Sports daily Marca
Marca refers in passing to the booing of England’s black players - but only after referring to the cheers of “ole” which greeted the long periods of Spanish possession.Aragones’ “no comment” to questions about racism after the match is also highlighted, as Marca focuses on the Spanish coach’s praise for his players.
Serbia & Montenegro’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win in Belgium - which could make qualification tougher for Spain - seems to be of greater importance.
There you have it folks. They are actually more concerned about he Match and it’s repercussions; rather than some insults by some knobs. The BBC however is more concerned with telling people how to live their lives.
Other reaction
Elsewhere, the Spanish media criticises its English counterparts for stoking up the racism issue.“Were there racist chants against some players? This hasn’t happened in the Spanish league and Spain for many years,” said Spanish Federation press officer Fernando Garrido.
“So you (English reporters) should ask yourselves what you have done to contribute to all this.”
And Spanish daily ABC accuses English reporters of launching a witch-hunt against Aragones.
Ouch! Right on target. The Spanish press chose to cover the match instead of drumming up angst, and hatred. The BBC would do well to emulate that attitude.
I am the superior person here
So what does Hamilton say? Oh he is playing the self-righteous aggrieved party to the hilt. Sorta. First he started out with:
“The truth is I feel somewhat sad,” he said. “I love this country, especially the city of Barcelona. The people in Spain have always been very warm.”
“At no point have I tried to deliberately prejudice Fernando but the fight has been very tough and my image in Spain has been severely damaged.”
Aww his image is damaged. Could it be that Hamilton is on the offensive and using this to garner attention? It seems that he is intentionally driving this issue, now.
“He [Alonso] showed me just how not to behave as an F1 driver,” said Hamilton.
“He was [the leader] at the beginning, wasn’t he - but it changed. We should be a team. It should be equal,”
Interesting it was not Alonso who whined about some words or chants or ‘black face’ taunts. He was upset that he was being treated unfairly by his team, so that a black racer could get preferential treatment.
Was it racism
Well no, as a matter of fact. Seems the Brits are too sensitive. Yes, I am sure you are shocked by that, as am I.
Speaking from his home in Girona, northeast Spain, this weekend, Calderon, 36, said: “I am no racist. I work with a lot of immigrants. It was a piece of fun. I am angry British people have misunderstood this. I do not want any more attention in case there are reprisals from immigrants here in Spain.”
How sad that some self-righteous hypocrites can shut down free-speech. It’s really disgusting actually.
Oh yeah, and it seems the little hot shot can’t drive a real car.
The 23-year-old [Hamilton] blamed the lack of engine braking and traction control, now banned under new regulations, as he twice beached the car in gravel.
“Without these controls helping you on the entry to corners there is more locking of the rear wheels,” he said.
Stand by to get your ass handed to you, ol bean.
