Baseball Opening Day

I don’t get it. Why start the Baseball Season in Japan?

I know they love baseball, however is it necessary to play the first game of the season at such an un-Godly hour? I think not. It’s idiotic. It’s our season, and our game.

Yes showcasing the game in Japan is good, as we have several players from Japan. It’s just not necessary to do it in Japan.

German Team say Nine to Christians

German Soccer Team won’t use fan’s choice of Jersey because it has a “cross” on it. Seems clear that not offending Muslims is more important than not offending Christians in Germany. Also seems clear that Political Correctness has run amok in Germany.

The Bullcrap Parade

Once again the NCAA selection committee has proven that the NCAA is broken, and clue-less.

Yesterday was ’selection Sunday’. A day when college hoops fans wait to see how their favorite team faired in the all so idiotic selection process for the NCAA Basketball tournament. It has all the elements of the BCS — college football’s “playoff” — baloney-fest, hand-wringing feel-goodism of Academia, and cheap dinner theater. Yes it’s that bad.

The Truth about Ray Ray

Ray Ray and his Brother

You won’t hear it many places, however the whining and complaining are mostly from the ignorant. Like this article from Sports Illustrated, about how heartless Clemson. Or from some truly clueless people at Sports By Brooks.

UPDATE: Ray Ray’s Mom gets it

staples center in los angeles, home of the Pac10 basketball tourney

It’s tourney time and the Pac-10 has three games on today. Some have to win, some can lose and be safe. That is never a good way to go. Plus you would rather have an easy game the first round and not be in the middle where all the upsets are. Oh, and the Pac-10 officials are once again causing controversy. Why is that the Pac-10 has so much trouble in this area?

Toyota gets NASCAR win

Kyle Busch celebrates his victory in Kobalt 500

Oh boy I can hear the moans now. A non-American car won? Oh the end is near. Not really a surprise, since NASCAR has done everything it can to get rid of the ‘good ol boys’. First they hired that metrosexual to run the show, and he came up with that idiotic “playoff”. Second they seem to be hell-bent on eliminating any team that is owner-operated. Third, they appear to favor the ‘pretty boys’ over real men. And now a candy-bar car wins and it’s a *gasp* Toyota Camry! Hello!

Scholarships Not What They Seem

So you think playing a sport is a free ride in College. Think again, it’s not. Many people spend thousands of dollars on their kids in the hopes they will get a ‘free ride’ to College, or a ticket to the pros. The reality is different, and not for the better. The NYT has an article on how most, if not scholarships come up well short of what is needed.

So You want to be a Photographer

Toni L. Sandy is a WaPo photog. In this video she talks about working at Spring Training. One thing I noticed was that even when shooting a long lens, she did not use a monopod. Oh and she shoots Canon — BOOO!! –, all of us artists of course shoot Nikon.

3 hours to get an ambulance

ucla-coach-john-wooden
John Wooden - former UCLA men’s Basketball Coach

What? Yes, it took 3 hours to get an ambulance to John Wooden’s home after he fell and broke his collarbone, and wrist. Seems the family was more concerned with media coverage than in helping the 97 year old, former Bruin Coach. That is not sitting well with some on Campus, and brings up questions about the family’s motives.
