I don’t get it. Why start the Baseball Season in Japan?
I know they love baseball, however is it necessary to play the first game of the season at such an un-Godly hour? I think not. It’s idiotic. It’s our season, and our game.
Yes showcasing the game in Japan is good, as we have several players from Japan. It’s just not necessary to do it in Japan.
So who won?
Anyway, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Oakland Athletics in extra innings to start the season, and few if any Americans saw it.
Even better the Sox attended a function at the Embassy. On display was Lou Gehrig’s glove. Prominently no doubt.
TOKYO—In an elegant room where Lou Gehrig’s glove is displayed and Babe Ruth was honored, officials and players from the Red Sox and Athletics were welcomed Tuesday at a reception at the U.S. Embassy.
The event was held by former Rangers part owner, J. Thomas Schieffer the current Ambassador to Japan.
I am not the only one who thinks this is a stunt. The Guardian in England can’t help but take a shot at America: Japanese suffer at the hands of MLB imperialism.
There were a few losers watching, in Boston of course. Many who woke up early were greeted by tv snow or blank screens: ESPN goes dark for some, but not if you had High Def, the conspiracy is just being learned of. Some guy shot video of the sunrise while listening to the game on the radio. Someone went so far as to use Kanji (Japanese written) in his game pots on his blog. Talk about desperate.
Another red-letter day for the MLB. Bud Selig, is the man … not.
