More Broadcaster Idiocy

Bob Costas must be a complete idiot. Today on the coverage of the U.S. Open at Torre Pines he decided to make a joke about Tiger Woods’ “swing coach”, Hank Haney that was offensive. Another in a long line of stupid comments made by announcers. Horrible coverage.

Who is the Court Jester?

Hank for those who don’t know, has been ill. Bob Costas decided to insult Hank and make a racially insensitive remark. I know it’s insensitive because I have seen the same comment made about other Blacks, and people went off the tracks they were so incensed.

What did he say? After being told that Hank was ill, and did not want to make a big deal about it, Bob “I’m so funny” Costas said:

“Well that’s what happens when you Tiger’s food taster. Someone has to do it.”

Unreal. First this is an insult to Hank Haney who is a very good Golf coach. To lower him to the lowest of court inhabitants, is an insult. The idea that Tiger is so important and under threat of death, that he needs some lesser mortal to test for poison is idiotic.

It’s not funny at all. Beyond that, the last time some one made comment about killing Tiger they were suspended for 2 weeks. Golfweek then put a noose on the cover of the next issue to “illustrate” the issue; causing further consternation.

I say fire Bob Costas. He is annoying, and it’s time for him to move on.

Even more idiotic was the comment by another announcer when Tiger made his entrance. The Police opened the gate, and the moron on TV said:

“It’s like the entrance of a King…”

Ridiculous.

He’s Purrfect!

Even though the coverage has sucked, it’s been immensely enjoyable watching the announcers make totally asses of themselves. Every time they talk about Tiger’s set up being perfect, or he is on the line, or some other idiotic and unnecessary praise; Tiger blows the shot. I love it.

Then the announcers have to make excuses for Tiger, or worse point out that he usually makes that shot. Well he didn’t that time, and that is the time that counts.

Just Bad Coverage

One of the funniest moments was Sergio Garcia making a putt to give him a second 70 in row. The announcer was going to circle the two 70s on screen and ended up circling Sergio’s crotch.

They then went back to Tiger ass kissing. So tired of it.

Oh, and while I am ragging on the coverage; lets discuss the graphics. Anyone else tired of the graphics guys and announcers trying to create tension? Yea me, also. Stop the spinning graphics, it’s annoying.
