More Idiots In Poker

It seems that the poker crowd is trying to pussy-fy poker. What a shock. First is was no cussing at the WSOP, now they want to ban players who have a criminal record. At this rate the WSOP main event will be played by 50 people in 2010.

So Shawn Sheikhan is an asshole and has a record. OMG! and he plays poker, and someone may think badly of poker players if this gets out. Ooops too late, they do think badly of poker players.

Gambling 911 which seems to fancy it’s self a poker news outlet has decided that anyone convicted of a crime must be expunged. Great, that’s what we need; more sanctimonious assholes decided what is acceptable and what is not. No doubt G911 gets bent when people say that poker is not acceptable.

“Seriously, do you think a guy convicted of child molestation and serving nine months in jail would be allowed to compete in the Olympics or the Super Bowl for that matter?” asked Somach. “Or anything of substance? But he can be in the World Series of Poker and nobody cares.”

This comment was from some idiot at PokerHelper — never heard of it or him — who G911 claims is a “respected reporter”, as if that matters.

Tom Somach, a long time respected reporter for the online gambling sector and proprietor of PokerHelper.com, has begun to question why the World Series of Poker would permit a convicted child molester to participate in the event.

Because the only qualification for playing is paying the entry fee, you idiot. Sadly Harrah’s may just act upon this and destroy Shawn’s livelihood, not that these clowns care.

Oh but it doesn’t stop there. The smearing goes on: Poker Perv Returns to WSOP.

The manager of a downtown youth clothing and amenities store at the time of his arrest, Sheikan ran a “diversity” store catering to teenagers with items such as clothing, backpacks, and posters. The teen victims were 17 and 16, respectively.

“I felt like a piece of meat,” one girl testified. “We felt we should stand up for ourselves. I had nightmares about him, and I didn’t want other people to have to go through this.”

He did not deny trial testimony that he tried to persuade the two girls to have sex in exchange for a skateboard, but said he was kidding.

“It was just a big joke and that’s why I’m sitting in this hole.” Sheikan said. “I am not a criminal. I’m a businessman. I don’t prey on young girls.”

Yep, you read that right. He said something and is now being labeled a “child molester” by the scum at Gambling 911. They even have the audacity to pretend to be journalists. Amazing. It seems they steal their material from sites of even less repute. Much of the story appears almost a direct pull from PokerHelper in this post: ‘Perv’ back which was laughably posted in “poker news”.

“One of the two deaths attributed to the storm was the result of an auto accident just after 11 a.m., when a car hydroplaned in the northwest part of the valley. A Mercedes, driven by Las Vegan Shahram Sheikhan, 29, was traveling at speeds too fast for the slick road conditions on Buffalo Drive just north of Charleston Boulevard, Metro Police said. The Mercedes slid across the raised center median of southbound Buffalo and struck a Lincoln traveling in the northbound lanes, police said. The female passenger, 91-year-old Dorathy Ohriner of Las Vegas, died at the scene, the Clark County Coroner’s office said today. The Lincoln was driven by Neil Ohriner, 66, also of Las Vegas, police said Sheikhan and Mr. Ohriner were taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.”

Yep you read that right. He was driving too fast on slick roads — a common occurrence in Las Vegas, as it rains infrequently — and had an accident. This is their proof that he is unworthy to play poker at the WSOP. Unreal.

What kind of “outrage” might this spark?

The appearance sparked outrage in the media, with several national publications, including Radar magazine and Globe magazine, exposing Sheikhan’s past and condemning NBC.

Yea “The Globe” was on the case. *lmao*.

As for his playing in the current WSOP, he, shockingly enough, is not the first child molester to do so.

Thomas “Amarillo Slim” Preston Jr., who several years ago pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his own granddaughter, played in last year’s WSOP.

No duh, Sherlock. Who doesn’t know this? I guess the fact that most poker players were playing in illegal card games, escaped him also.

Why are we even talking about this

Now you may wonder why all of this is even being brought up. It seems that some have nothing better to do that point out who is attending the WSOP, and then begin a crusade to oust them.

A poker pro suspected of murdering his mother and poker pro father is attending the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

As has been reported, poker pro Ernest Scherer III of Brea, California, USA, is the prime suspect in the March murders of his parents, Ernest Scherer Jr., also a professional poker player, and his wife, Charlene.

Yes, a suspect. What’s next evicting anyone with unpaid parking tickets?

Funny these same people bitch about the crusade against poker, and yet behave in exactly the same manner.
