More Duke Shame

Once again Duke Sports is in the news and it’s not good, again.

Duke sued by Andrew Giuliani

Seems Andy was booted from the team over allegations that he was a bit wayward.

They claim Vincent suspended the junior for a series of minor or fabricated infractions: driving too fast out of a parking lot, breaking a driver, getting into an confrontation with a teammate.

Then the coach told Giuliani the suspension would be lifted only if all 12 of his teammates lobbied for him - a scheme the suit likened to “Lord of the Flies.”

The coach who recruited Giuliani died last year, and Duke brought in the then UCLA coach O.D. Vincent to take over the program.

Once again Duke has made a stupid move. They bring in Vincent, who seems to believe that the team runs the team and not the coach. Seems Duke has some issues they need to work out.

“Andrew’s lawsuit is simple: he is asking the federal court to rule that Duke University must keep the promises it makes to induce its students to enroll,” lawyer Bob Ekstrand said.

Bad news for Andy, most scholarships are not guaranteed, and can be withdrawn at anytime.
