Boston Firefighter bodybuilding on disability

No it’s not a feel good story, but one of wanton criminality.

A Boston Fire fighter has failed to return to work, after being ordered back by the department. Albert Arroyo was on disability since April.

Albert Arroyo had filed for a disability pension in April, claiming he suffered a career-ending back injury. But in May, he competed in a national bodybuilding competition.

On May 3, just 15 days after [Dr John F.] Mahoney decided Arroyo could no longer work, the firefighter competed in a national bodybuilding competition and finished eighth.

Seems clear to me he was fine.

Golfcross: Golf meets Rugby

the golfcross ball — yes it’s oval

No I am not kidding. Some guy in New Zealand decided to that he could enjoy Rugby on the Golf Course. It’s called Golfcross. I have no clue why.

You can see a video of some “golfers” playing it here. They even have a site on the internet: Golfcross home page. This of course proves they have made it. This of course leads to a Golfcross Championship.

So You want to be a Photographer

Toni L. Sandy is a WaPo photog. In this video she talks about working at Spring Training. One thing I noticed was that even when shooting a long lens, she did not use a monopod. Oh and she shoots Canon — BOOO!! –, all of us artists of course shoot Nikon.

Ejected for … Gambling

Yes, gambling. Three SPECTATORS were ejected for gambling IN the stadium

ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) — Three spectators were kicked out of the Diamond Games tournament because they were betting on a match online from the stands.

UN. REAL. I thought Belgium was a tolerant place?

They were seen betting on points in real time from their laptops during a first-round match Monday and asked to leave, organizers said Tuesday. No further action was taken.

This is so stupid. It’s not like they are players betting on their own points? Don’t the Tennis people understand that betting drives much of the viewing of sports? Guess not.

I do have to admire the betting on each point though. That is commitment. Next time use a Blackberry or sit off court somewhere.

Wing Fling in Philly

Joey Chestnut bags a hat trick

Another champion crowned, and we are all in amazement of his prowess. He ate 241 wings, and walked off with a Harley for the first round victory, and a Toyota truck for the overall.

Philly Inquirer has massive Wing Bowl coverage here. Check out the Wingette auditions. Truly amazing.

Bill “El Wingador” Simmons came out of retirement to take on Chestnut, but was only able to down 205 wings.

Local favorite Michael Sarian made the locals proud by taking 6th at the Wing Bowl.

I suppose I could do this with this kind of “team” around me.

Ode to the Chicken Wing

Seems “Buffalo Wings” are quite popular in Chicago. The Chicagoist seems to be obsessed with Chicken wings, aka “Buffalo Wings”. Don’t miss out on “Wingfest” in Chicago.
